A note on our donation partner, and what happens next

Since we began donating two dollars from every review to ovarian cancer research through the Hudson Institute of Medical Research, it has become one of the parts of running Primary that I am most glad we started.

This week, The Age reported that Hudson Institute is facing significant disruption, including around 75 job losses, with the article suggesting other research institutes may follow. We do not yet have full clarity on what this means for Hudson, or for the ovarian cancer research my team and I have been supporting alongside our customers.

I want to be upfront about that, rather than wait until everything is confirmed to say anything at all.

What has not changed

Our commitment has not moved. Every review left with Primary will continue to direct two dollars toward ovarian cancer research. That is not changing while we work through this.

What has changed

We no longer know, with certainty, where that support currently lands. We are working to confirm Hudson's situation, and to find the right place for these donations to go, whether that remains Hudson or moves elsewhere. We will share an update here as soon as we know more.

Why this still matters

Ovarian cancer remains one of the most underfunded women's cancers in Australia. That has not changed, and it is the reason this initiative exists at all. Uncertainty about where funds currently land does not change why we started, or why we are continuing.
